This year, the green, grumpy original isn’t the only version that is available on a streaming platform, but as in years past, is still the most accessible.

Based on the book by the famous Dr. Seuss. Inside a snowflake exists the magical land of Whoville. In Whoville, live the Who’s, an almost mutated sort of munchkin-like people. All the Whos love Christmas, yet just outside of their beloved Whoville lives the Grinch. The Grinch is a nasty creature that hates Christmas and plots to steal it away from the Whos which he equally abhors. Yet a small child, Cindy Lou Who tries to befriend the Grinch.

If Peacock isn’t something you’re interested in, you can find the holiday favorite to rent or buy on multiple platforms. However, for whatever reason, it seems here in the US the only version you’re able to rent or buy is the ‘Ultimate Edition’ which includes the timeless classic, plus newly remastered Grinch Specials: The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat, and Halloween is Grinch Night! So not bad, but if you’re looking for only the Christmas special, the extra stuff may just be unneeded fluff and prove annoying. If streaming isn’t you’re style. You’ll be able to catch How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966) on old-school TV on NBC on Thursday, November 30 at 8:00 p.m. and on Christmas Day, December 25 at 8:00 p.m.

While a fan favorite for many, How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) starring Jim Carrey is not currently available on demand on any streaming platform.
