Notion Finally Works Offline. Here’s the Catch Parents Should Know
Notion finally rolled out real offline editing. You can open a page on the iOS or Android app or the desktop app, flip a switch, and keep working without service. Once you’re back online, your changes sync up. It’s not magic, but it’s finally real.

The short version
- It works on apps, not browsers. iPhone, Android, and desktop only.
- Free plan: you must turn on Available offline per page you want.
- Paid plans: your recent and favorited pages auto-download, but you still need to manually mark anything else. Manage it in Settings → Offline.
- Limits: not every block type works offline, and big databases only bring the first chunk down.
How to enable it fast
- Open the page in the Notion app.
- Tap the three dots.
- Toggle Available offline and wait for the download bar to finish.
- Check Settings → Offline to see what’s saved and to remove pages later.
Why this helps a parent brain
- Edit packing lists and therapy notes in bad service and sync later.
- Keep a couple of “always ready” pages favorited if you’re on a paid plan.
- Treat it like a carry-on. Only download what you actually need.
Worth switching from Apple Notes or Obsidian?
If you already live in Notion, like yours truly, this closes the biggest gap. If you want instant, automatic everything, it still trails Obsidian and Apple Notes for pure offline ease, but definitly helps make strides to improve that need.
