DDP Yoga iOS app can now be viewed on Roku devicesIf you have a supported 4K Roku player or TV and either an iPhone or iPad running at least iOS 12.3, you were welcome to see the recent Roku OS update to 9.4, which added AirPlay 2 support.  While it might seem like a small feature, the addition of AirPlay added numerous capabilities to those Roku devices that they had previously lacked, which opened up the ability to watch HBO Max through AirPlay, easy music playback from your iOS device, HomeKit support, and more. One of those things that fall under “more” is the ability to use AirPlay or Screen Mirroring to view the DDP Yoga Now app on your TV.  With AirPlay, you’ll simply be viewing your workout videos on the TV, with screen mirroring, you’ll simply be mirroring your phone screen, so you’ll be viewing the entire app.

Use AirPlay to have DDP Yoga Now app on Roku

To start, users will first need to make sure that AirPlay is enabled. You can activate AirPlay either of two ways:

To use AirPlay to access your DDP Yoga Now workout videos, open the DDP Yoga Now app, select the workout you’re wanting to do, tap the AirPlay button, and select your Roku device.  You’ll be able to use your phone as a remote control for the video, just like you have in the past.

You can also open Control Center on your iOS device, then hit the AirPlay button at the top of your playback controls, and select your Roku device from the list.

In both methods, your workout video should pop up on your TV in full resolution, with the playback controls appearing on your iOS device.  You’ll also be able to use your regular Roku remote to control the video playback.

Use Screen Mirroring to have DDP Yoga Now app on your Roku

While Android devices have been able to mirror to Roku devices for a while, AirPlay finally makes it possible for iPhone and iPads.  To activate Screen Mirroring, just open Control Center, select Screen Mirroring, then choose your Roku device from the list.  Anything that appears on your iPhone or iPad display will be reflected on your TV as well, allowing you to view the entire DDP Yoga Now app on your TV screen.

While DDP Yoga has offered a DDPY on Demand channel on Roku for a while, this workaround is a nice alternative to those that use the DDP Yoga app or have considered it in the past but enjoyed having the workouts on their TVs.
