Nintendo has something new for us, and no, it’s not the Switch 2. Instead, they’ve announced a motion-controlled alarm clock called “Alarmo.” Now, if you’re anything like me, the thought of swiping away an alarm instead of fumbling for a snooze button at 6 AM sounds like a game-changer. With Alarmo, you can snooze with a simple gesture or stop it by actually getting out of bed. It’s priced at $99.99 and will be available in early 2025—but if you’re a Switch Online subscriber, you can snag it early.

The device has been a bit of a mystery, with rumors circulating since it hit the Federal Communications Commission last month. Those filings revealed Alarmo packs a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi radio and a 24GHz mmWave sensor, which is how it tracks your movements.

But here’s where things get fun: Nintendo’s tapping into their iconic games to make waking up a little more… interesting. Alarmo comes loaded with 35 different audio “scenes” from five Switch titles: Breath of the Wild, Pikmin 4, Splatoon 3, Super Mario Odyssey, and Ring Fit Adventure. And that’s not all—future updates will pull sounds from Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8, which will be free if you link it to your Nintendo account.

It’s not just about waking up either. Alarmo offers some sleep-tracking features. You’ll be able to see how much you toss and turn at night, and there are a couple of different modes to suit your wake-up style. In Steady Mode, the alarm gets more intense the longer you stay in bed (which is honestly terrifying). Meanwhile, Gentle Mode keeps things calm and consistent. There’s also a Button Mode if you’re into more traditional alarms, plus a wind-down feature with soothing sounds for bedtime.

This announcement comes at a time when Nintendo seems to be focusing on everything but a next-gen console. Just last month, we saw The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, possibly the last big release for the Switch, and the company just opened the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto. So, while we wait for news on what’s next for Nintendo’s console line, at least we’ll be waking up in style.

For $99.99, Alarmo might just make those rough mornings a bit more bearable.
