Dads unite! We are officially defined.

Merriam-Webster has added 455 new words and definitions to the dictionary, including one I’ve used here on Fatherhood: Reloaded numerous times in describing myself: dad bod.

While it’s not exactly a new word, they have dad bod’s first known use to be in 2003 and define it as:

a physique regarded as typical of an average father; especially : one that is slightly overweight and not extremely muscular.

So there you have it, ladies and gentlemen, my physicality has an official definition!

Merriam-Webster also added several words from the coronavirus pandemic and growing online culture. Deplatform, amirite, super-spreader, and vaccine passport are just some of the many words added this year.
