Instagram finally has a real iPad app (only took 15 years)
We got this before GTA VI! Instagram has launched a native iPad app, fifteen years after the original iPhone version. We knew it was coming; now it’s here.
What’s different on iPad
- Reels-first home: The app opens straight into a Reels feed.
- Chronological lists are back: You can organize posts/Reels into a recent-first list (and that’s rolling into the phone app, too).
- Made for big screens: Comments sit beside videos, and DMs show inbox + chat in a split view—very “desktop Messenger” vibes.

Why I care (dad/creator brain)
Bigger canvas = less tapping around and more actual posting. The split views make it easier to keep up with comments and messages without bouncing between screens—handy for family updates, project promos, and, you know, sharing way too many photos of the kids.
