Columbia and Star Wars are truly a beautiful pairing. I have had the privilege of receiving a few pieces from the past few collections, including the shirt and the Boba Fett collection. Their latest collaboration, this one inspired by Star Wars: The Clone Wars, is primed and ready for the winter months.
I’m almost ashamed that I’ve never taken the time to write up even a quick review of the Columbia Star Wars pieces I have. I’ve posted when they’re released and shared photos that my wife has been gracious enough to take, but actually taking a moment to spit out a review I have not done.
That changes now.
Let me start by saying that if you’re familiar with the high quality that comes with the Columbia name, then you’ll not be surprised to learn that when they release their Star Wars collections, that quality is not lessened simply because of the added EP. This is a genuine Columbia and Star Wars collaboration.
For this latest collection, I was fortunate enough to get one of their Obi-Wan-inspired Republic parkas.
While the fur on the hood (which can be removed) may make you think differently, understand that this is a man’s coat, and it’s a man’s coat that will ensure you stay warm!
Honestly, this is a coat, there’s only so much I can write or tell you about it, but I’ll tell you this; if you want a winter coat, you won’t go wrong with this one. The photos my wife took of me in the coat (which you can check out below) only took 5-7 minutes to take, but by the time we were done, I was ready to get out of that coat. It was in the upper 40s on the day we took these photos and I was ROASTING in no time. This thing is a legit winter coat.
If you check reviews over on Columbia’s website, you’ll find overall positive reviews, with the only real comment being that the coat runs big. I’m typically an XL guy but went with an L and the coat fits perfectly. So I have to assume that the claims are accurate. The coat runs just a tad big.
The thing is, that to me doesn’t speak of the quality of the product.
The coat itself is a rockstar and would be something Obi-Wan would have been proud to wear. If I was to knock the coat for anything, it would be the price point. I mean, I get it, but $500 isn’t a price point everyone can meet.
